Building a Future Through Skill and Determination

“WINGS didn’t just teach me a skill; it gave me multiple skills, and the confidence to turn them into businesses. “

Chimbaka Victoria, 27, is a proud alumna of the WINGS programme and a shining example of what’s possible when skill meets opportunity.

A tertiary-educated woman living in New Kuchingoro IDP Camp, Chimbaka combined her tailoring and computer literacy training to build multiple streams of income, from her tailoring trade to a growing fascinator-making business. What started as a means of survival has grown into thriving ventures she now runs with confidence and purpose.

Beyond her businesses, Chimbaka gives back to her community, volunteering as a teacher in the camp and supporting other women and girls coming up behind her in the WINGS programme. Her journey, from participant to entrepreneur to volunteer and teacher, reflects the very heart of what WINGS set out to do: to help displaced women and girls move from surviving to thriving.

“WINGS didn’t just teach me a skill; it gave me multiple skills, and the confidence to turn them into businesses. Now I get to give back, both through my work and by teaching others in my community.” — Chimbaka Victoria

Chimbaka’s story is a reminder that with the right support, displaced women aren’t just rebuilding their lives; they’re building futures, businesses, and communities of their own.
