WINGS 2.0 Beneficiaries Visit the National Space Museum

A visit to the National Space Museum opened up new worlds of discovery, inspiring young girls to explore science, technology and possibilities beyond displacement.

For girls living in displacement, an excursion is rarely just an outing; it is a rare luxury, one that competes with far more urgent needs like food, shelter, and safety. So when WINGS 2.0 beneficiaries took an excursion to the National Space Museum on August 4th, 2026, it was more than a fun day out. For many, it was the first time they had ever been anywhere beyond the camp purely to learn, explore, and dream.

In line with the programme’s curriculum on technology and digital literacy, the excursion took learning far beyond the walls of a classroom and into the realm of possibility itself.

For many of the girls, it was their first time stepping into a space of this kind. Wide-eyed, they moved through exhibits on space exploration, science, and innovation, encountering ideas about technology and discovery that, for some, had only ever existed in textbooks or, for others, had never existed at all.

Why It Matters

WINGS has always believed that empowerment isn’t only about survival skills; it’s about expanding what girls believe is possible for themselves. Among the beneficiaries are dreamers, girls who now speak of wanting to become astronauts, engineers, scientists, and pioneers in careers many once thought were out of reach for someone like them. As the curriculum continues to introduce beneficiaries to the world of technology and artificial intelligence, this excursion offered something textbooks alone cannot: a tangible, lived experience of just how far curiosity and knowledge can take a person.

Watching displays on space travel and scientific innovation, many of the girls began to ask questions , about how things worked, about the people behind the discoveries, about what it might take to be part of that world themselves. For girls whose daily realities are shaped by displacement, that shift from merely surviving to actively imagining a future is exactly what WINGS 2.0 is designed to spark.

A Day to Remember

Beyond the exhibits, the excursion was a day of joy, laughter, and connection a reminder that learning can be an adventure, and that these young women deserve moments of wonder just like any other child or young person.

As WINGS 2.0 continues to build a generation of confident, tech-aware, and forward-thinking young women, days like this one aren’t just an outing. They are a glimpse into the futures these girls are now being equipped to imagine and to build. From displacement to the cosmos, WINGS 2.0 beneficiaries are learning that the sky was never the limit.
